Just Imagine

I was fortunate enough to recently hear Dimitar Sasselov, a Harvard astronomer and founder of the Origins of Life Initiative, discuss the discovery of an exoplanet (one beyond our solar system) that orbits a star similar to our own sun and at a similar distance.

Bottom line:

In his opinion, there’s a better-than-ever chance that planet Kepler 62-e could harbor a form of life like our own. Not little green men, but microbial life, akin to that which populated Earth 5 billion years ago.

Of course he doesn’t have a crystal ball but has a very strong feeling that we are on the verge of massive discovery – one that would shift how we view everything, including ourselves.

Namely, the discovery of other life within our universe.

For one moment. Just for fun.

Imagine he’s right.
